Star Rating comes with a set of capabilities that control who can view, add, edit, or moderate ratings and comments.

To get an overview of the capabilities and see which roles they are assigned to, go to Site Administration > Users > Permissions > Capability overview.

Important: Permissions control who can see and manage ratings and comments. You should only adjust capabilities if you are familiar with Moodle’s permission system and understand the impact these changes can have on existing roles and workflows.

Available capabilities

  • filter/rating:adcomment

    Allows users to add a comment when submitting a rating.

  • filter/rating:editowncomment

    Allows users to edit or delete their own rating comments.

  • filter/rating:moderatecomments

    Allows users to edit or delete rating comments created by other users.

  • filter/rating:viewallcomments

    Allows users to view all rating comments, including those created by other users.
